The Ph.D. major in Teaching and Learning with a concentration in social studies is designed to prepare professional educators for leadership positions by developing a substantial knowledge base in social studies education. In addition, the program prepares professional educators as scholarly inquirers who ask thoughtful questions, who can conduct sound inquiry, and who can recommend informed policy. Students in the program would have an opportunity to work with social studies faculty in a number of research areas. Please see our research interests area below for more information on research being conducted in the social studies unit.
