Application Deadlines
Programs in the College of Education admit students at different times and not all programs admit new students every term. Before you apply to a program, be certain you check the application completion deadline for the program for the term you wish to apply. All materials must be in the Office of Academic Assistance and Graduate Admissions by the completion deadline date, or your application will be withdrawn from consideration. Also check the materials required table to be certain you can submit all of the necessary documentation or complete the necessary testing in plenty of time before the deadline.
* Most departments accept students each academic term, with some exceptions. For more information about graduate application deadlines, please contact the Office of Academic Assistance
Testing Deadlines
Most degree programs in the College of Education require acceptable scores on the Graduate Record Examination for admission. Be certain that you take the examination in plenty of time for your scores to be reported to the College of Education, Georgia State University. Scores are sent to the university electronically and not by mail; it is good to include an unofficial copy of your score sheet with your supplemental materials. Find the testing dates at the GRE website.
Some programs accept scores on the Miller Analogies Test instead of the GRE. The dates for this test are listed on the MAT website and the procedures explained in the downloadable booklet.
Many programs that lead to teacher certification require completion of the GACE basic skills test before admission. The Georgia Assessments for the Certification of Educators is given several times a year. The test dates can be found on the GACE website.
