Definitions of Instructional Design
A variety of definitions are provided dealing with instructional design, instructional systems and instructional technology.

The Encyclopedia of Educational Technology
The Encyclopedia of Educational Technology (EET) is a collection of short multimedia articles on a variety of topics related to the fields of instructional design and education and training. (Note: Search on "instructional design" and you'll have a choice among 176 articles dealing with this topic!)


Models

Big Dog's ISD Page
Donald Clark's web site provides excellent practical information on Instructional Systems Design as it applies to training. He uses the ADDIE model to describe and discuss the process in terms of planning, designing and delivering training.

Layers of Necessity Model
This paper written by a Master's student discusses and illustrates the Layers of Necessity Model developed by Tessmer and Wedman. It is described as a "practitioner’s model" of ID.

Models of Instructional Design
This web site provides an excellent presents material on general phases of ID models, their classifications and discusses specific examples. Graphic representations of models are available.
