INTASC Standards to Be Addressed In
The Junior-Year (Entrance to Professional Sequence)
MCE Program Portfolio
For your Junior-Year MCE Program Portfolio, you will need to submit
artifacts and narrative explanation relative to the following standards
to the Middle Childhood Faculty. The following are suggestions on
what portions of your IT 3210 Learning Environment Portfolio might apply
to each INTASC Standard for your MCE Program Portfolio.
INTASC 1. The teacher understands the central concepts,
tools of inquiry, and structures of the discipline(s) he or she teaches*
and
can create leaning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter
meaningful for students.
*Students will be assessed on their understandings of their disciplines
(major and minor areas) and on the teaching of Reading at this point
of the portfolio evaluation. Students will be assessed on "creating
learning experiences" within the disciplines (Math, Science, English,
and Social Studies) at the next assessment point.
INTASC 2. The teacher understands how children learn and
develop, and can provide learning opportunities that support their intellectual,
social, and personal development.
-
Any active learning lesson plan that allows the learner to challenge himself
or herself, to construct their own knowledge, and/or construct a product
of their newly developed knowledge.
-
Any active learning lesson plan that allows the learner to work at his/her
own pace.
-
Any active learning lesson plan that allows the learner to work in cooperative
groups.
-
Any active learning lesson plan that allows the learner to expand and explore,
including forays into areas of personal interest to them, their culture,
and society as a whole.
INTASC 3. The teacher uses knowledge of effective verbal,
nonverbal and media communication techniques to foster active inquiry,
collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.
INTASC 4. The teacher plans instruction based on knowledge
of subject matter, students, the community, and curriculum goals.
IT 3210 LEP conversion suggestions:
For this standard, consider the ADDIE model you use to develop your
unit and lesson plans. Specific artifacts that may be re-purposed:
Lesson plans that clearly demonstrate the ADDIE model :
-
Analyze (audience/background/prior learning)
-
Design (clearly stated objectives; reference the QCCs)
-
Development of necessary instructional materials, learning resources,
and learner activities
-
Description of activities that will take place during implementation
-
Description of how learners will be evaluated, along with how the
effectiveness of the learning environment (your design) will be assessed
INTASC 5. The teacher understands and uses formal and
informal assessment strategies to evaluate and ensure the continuous intellectual,
social, and physical development of the learner.
IT 3210 LEP conversion suggestions:
For this standard, consider especially the evaluation portion of the
ADDIE model you use to develop your unit and lesson plans. Specific artifacts
that may be re-purposed:
-
Evaluation plans from your LEP lesson plans.
-
Assessment plans from you LEP lesson plans
INTASC 6. The teacher is a reflective practitioner who
continually evaluates the effects of his/her choices and actions on others
(students, parents, and other professionals in the learning community)
and who actively seeks out opportunities to grow professionally.
IT 3210 LEP Conversion suggestions:
-
The assessment portion of your LEP lesson plan
-
Although it is not part of your LEP, consider including your final reflection
paper here.
-
Consider including artifacts (and a narrative) from any voluntary Instructional
Technology Center workshops you might have attended to better learn how
to operate a software program.
