About the Georgia Reading Endorsement This new
endorsement area is designed specifically for PreK-12 classroom teachers to help them meet the literacy needs of the students they teach. Emphases include understanding readers and the reading process, linking assessment and instruction, and exploring specific instructional strategies which can be applied in individual classroom contexts and the National Reading Panel’s scientifically based research recommendations with attention to phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, reading comprehension, and vocabulary.
Seeking the Georgia Reading Endorsement Members of the University System of Georgia Reading Consortium offer Reading Endorsement coursework for PreK-12 classroom teachers. In addition to on-campus offerings at their respective institutions, members have also collaboratively designed two models which incorporate web-based coursework to provide access to the Reading Endorsement preparation for teachers who may have difficulties attending on-campus courses during the year. For more information on the distance learning models - click on "
Teaching Online" or the "Reading Institute Model" buttons at the left of the screen or request a poster for display by contacting Joyce Many
