The Department of Middle-Secondary Education and Instructional Technology prepares educators and other professionals in career and technical education, English education, English as a second language education, learning technologies, library media technology, mathematics education, middle childhood education, reading education, science education, and social studies education. We offer 34 programs across seven degrees (B.S.E., M.A.T., M.Ed., M.L.M., M.S., Ed.S., and Ph.D.); three certification-only programs; and three endorsement programs. These programs are offered in face-to-face and online formats. Our acclaimed faculty, among the leading researchers and teachers in their fields, come from many countries around the world and are committed to bettering the human condition.
Our mission is to engage in research, teaching, and service in urban environments with people from multiple cultural, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds. We work collaboratively with people in schools, communities, and organizations in metropolitan Atlanta and around the world. We are committed to innovation and creativity and to pushing the boundaries of knowledge and practice.
