Understanding SBRR

Welcome to the University System of Georgia Reading Consortium Resource Web site. Our goal is to provide you with useful information about the National Reading Panel’s report on scientifically based reading research.

There are five main components to the Panel’s report: (a) phonemic awareness, (b) phonics, (c) fluency, (c) vocabulary, and (d) comprehension. Each of these areas has its own section of the website. Within each area, you will find a summary of the Panel’s findings, related readings, suggested resources, and activities. In addition, we’ve created a syllabus matrix to help you plan your reading course around the Panel’s findings.  This matrix can be found under under The Consortium link. To read the actual report from the National Reading Panel, go to http://www.nationalreadingpanel.org/.

Feel free to browse around this site. If you have comments or questions or simply need more information about the work of the Reading Consortium and want to contact us, click on the contact button on The Consortium page within this site.
