GIS.com was developed and is maintained by Environmental Systems Research Institute, Inc. (ESRI). The purpose of this website is to provide information on geographic information systems and the many ways they can be used. This comprehensive website contains an explanation of geographic information systems, a museum of maps, free downloads of software, and much more information. ESRI has created a successful website that has many links to other geography sites. The site is best suited for GIS researchers, teachers, and college-level students. Any information on the site can be reproduced for educational (non-commercial) use.
